Discover the extensive history of Bruce County and all it entails at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre in Southampton. Climb aboard the HMS General Hunter, shop in Bevan’s General Store and explore the last frontier as you explore the Museum’s many hands-on and interactive exhibits. There is no end to what you will see, do and learn! 

"Hallmarks of Humanity" is an exhibit that shows the importance and roles of quilts and blankets throughout time.  Bruce County quilts and blankets have played roles in providing comfort and aid throughout the County and further abroad.  This show features several pieces from the Museum's collection and loans, including a signture quilt created by Culross Township residents in 1918, which made its way to Englad during WWII and is coming home to Bruce County for the first time.  This exhibit will  open beginning on April 3,  the opening receipton is April 7 at 2:00 p.m., the exhibit closes on April 30.  

"Breaking the Silence" is an exhibtion to expand emotional knowledge and an exercise in empathy.  By highlighting the challenges someone with mental health concerns could be facing day to day as well as in our healthcare system, with hopes that these images and concepts presented will give the viewer an insight to the struggle.  This exhibit is in partnership with Grey Bruce Health Services and Canadian Mental Health Association Grey Bruce.  This exhibit opens on Monday, May 7 with an opening reception being held at 7:00 p.m., please RSVP by calling 519-797-2080.  This exhibit will close on May 19, 2018.

"Animal Gibberish, Subtitled for Humans" is a fun filled and interactive exhibit that will help you discover who does what and send messages just like animals do!  Have you ever wondered what animals are saying?  Animals expresss themselves in many ways to convey simple messages, such as "I like you", "Danger!" or "I'm Hungry".  The more social they are, the more unique their ways of communicating.  Proudly presented by Ontario Power Generation and 101.7 The One. This exhibit will  open beginning on May 18 until September 3, 2018.  

The Museum offers adult and children's programming and special events, and is home to the Bruce County Archives & Research Room. One visit will have you buying a membership!  You can also use your membership for free admission at 4 additional Museums including: Grey Roots Museum & Archives, Waterloo Region Museum & Archives, Huron County Museum and Simcoe County Museum!
